Module 5

Hello participants!

Here we are with new tasks in our blog. This post is a bit challenging and it will take you a little more time to fulfill it.

Remember that the activities in the blog are not to do completely at the school computer room. You may start the activity/ies in class and continue or finish it/them at home. The purpose of the blog is to expand your exposure to the English language.

  •  Online self-check exercises
Please, revise your notes on Future plans and intentions on page 147. Then, click on the links which will take you to different online exercises. Read the instructions carefully , do them and finally check your answers. If you don´t pass the exercise, revise your notes again. Do the exercise again and if you keep on making the same mistakes, take notes of your mistakes and ask your teacher for further explanation.

Click on the following links (IMPORTANT: Once you finish with the activity click on the button "backwards" to return to our blog):

  1. I imagine you are revising the grammar section  about future plans and intentions on page 147 of your book as I suggested. So, let's see what mark you get after doing this questionaire.                            http://www.englishtenseswithcartoons.com/test/future_tenses_quiz
  2. Will or be going to? Complete the text boxes that appear in this exercise with the appropriate tenses, then click the "Check" button to check your answers.   http://www.englishpage.com/verbpage/verbs20.htm
  3. Shall or will? Once you finish ticking the option you consider the suitable one, click on "grade me" and the results will appear.                                                          http://www.1-language.com/englishcoursenew/unit29_grammar_exs.htm
  4. Now let's revise word order and jobs. In this exercise you should click the words in order to build correct questions/answers. Once you finished, click on "check" and then on "next".                                                   http://pagesperso-orange.fr/michel.barbot/cap/voc/jobs/mix1.htm
  5. Writing: Write in comments which activity of the ones above you found most helpful and which one, the most difficult. Remember to sign your comment with your name and course.
  6. DEADLINE: April 30th
That's all for now!
See you, Nelba

  1. Hello Nelba,
I revised my notes and the grammar section about future plans and intentions. After that, I realised the questionarie and I completed the test boxes in this exercise with the appropriate tenses. Besides that I made mistakes. For this reason, I should studied the grammar section a lot because I found the most important difficult in verb tenses.
Also, I chose the option between shall or will and I clicked the words in order build whithout problems.
    Thanks

  2. Hi... Nelba and students of School of Languages, I entered into the blog and I practiced some exercise, but I´m making same comments on these: the First link didn´t work, I don´t know why, however I used it for revision. The second, I´ve done it, but never I could see my mistakes because It showed me the score only. The third and the last was ok.
Acoording my commnets above I´m thinking of better for me to improve with another links.

    Hello Nelba,
I found all activities helpful because I think that doing them is the best way to practice and learn. Regarding what which one I found the most difficult I would say It is the first one because I think there are different forms to refer to the uses of the tenses that do not appear in the book.

    In the book it says:
    - Use be going + infinitive for Present intentions about the future.
    - Use present continuous for Arrangements.
    - Use will for predictions.
    - Use With/If/When/etc. + present verb form + (will/going to + verb) for Future.

I could not find Predictions based on observation of the present situation (for be going + infinitive) Spontaneous decisions (for will + infinitive) or Fixed arragements that can't be changed (for Present Simple (future Use)).

Fortunately, I could do the rest of the activities without troubles…

    That´s all for today ;)
    Regards…

  5. Hello, Nelba. I´ve done the exercises below; the most difficult to me was the first one, but it was also the most helpful.
The last one was very, very easy.

  6. Hello there! I´ve tried to do all the exercises posted, and I can say that the one which I have had more problems was the first one. Most likely because I was used to the usage of the different tenses in the same way we do here in a Spanish-speaking country. Clearly English doesn´t work exactly that way, so this exercise was pretty useful to clarify this matter.

Thanks for your time, any advice is more than welcome!

  7. Hello blog master!!! I think this kind of activities is very interesting and it is different than others we do in class. It's much funny do some exercises in my computer. It's a great idea!!! In my opinion, the most difficult exercise was the number 4 because I lost the line of the game at finish. I like very much the third exercise, which we have to choose between shall or will. It's the first time I do something similar. Thanks for your help in my learning English!!! I will wait for the next time...

  8. Hello Nelba, How are you? The most difficult excercise was the first. The easiest was Shall/will. Then the last one and finally the excercise you have to complete.
I have to pay attention while I do the homework. It wasn't easier but was very exciting.
    Thanks for all.

  9. Hello Nelba,
I think this is a good way to practice English and the interaction with the pc is an useful and funny tool to know in what conditions we are. I had some problems to complete the exercises one and four, so I need more practise and more time to do it, until now I didn´t have enough time to study at home.
    Thanks for your time.

  10. Hello there!
I think the funniest activity was number 4 because I love puzzles and this kind of activities, although the first and the second points were differents from the other because you have to concentrate a little bit.
Finally, shall or will, was easier than the rest of activities
    Happy Labor Day!
    See you...

  11. Well. I think that the most difficult excersice was the first one. However, i've liked the excercise number 4 "word order and jobs", because it's necessary to be precise and rapid to answer the game!.
I'll try to do all the excercises someday again, to improve and have better scores (It will be a synonym of progress in my English studies)

    That's all for today

  14. Hello, Nelba!
I've found this activities very intresting. The first one was the most difficult for me (perhaps because it was the only one without examples) but it was helpful!
    Thank you!

  15. Dear Blog Master, I think that those exercises of grammar practice are really helpful because of the procedure of self-correction. I´d like to see more of them on the blog.

    Hi Nelba!
First I feel sorry for my late post, I had done the link's work but I forgot to post the comment.
The first task was very confused for me because there were some categories I've never analized before, so I learnt it now - never is late ;-). The rest were easy luckily.

    Regards,
    Mariano.
